About Academic Star
Academic Star opened its doors on February 1, 2004.
By the end of the second month of business, we already had ten families bringing their children on a regular basis and six college students with the same level of commitment.
By the end of the third month of business, that total had risen to fifteen families and nine college students and we are still growing!
The reason? Academic Star tutors love to teach and when a student comes to us with difficulties we have a strong desire to help that student.
That means sitting down with the student and addressing their specific issues one-on-one.
We have helped students turn their grades around after just a couple of private tutoring sessions!
Academic Star tutors all have fingerprint clearance cards, teaching certificates in their field, teaching awards and years of experience tutoring and teaching at the secondary and post-secondary level.
All hold master's degrees in their field and are fluent in at least one other language besides English.
Academic Star tutors have the training and experience to be able to detect learning disabilities that may be caused by dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, or autism, among others.
Children may overcome these handicaps when given highly personalized instruction tailored specifically to their needs
